‘Focus is on..’: Joe Root opens up on breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s Test record

New Delhi: Pakistan will face England in the first Test at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on October 7. Ahead of the series, England star batter Joe Root said that he is not focused on achieving milestones and wants to contribute to the team’s victory.

Joe Root broke England’s legendary batter Alastair Cook’s record after he hit two hundreds at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London against Sri Lanka earlier this year. He is just 70 runs away from surpassing Cook’s record of 12472 runs in Test cricket.

Root is currently in the sixth position on the list of all-time Test scores and he has an opportunity to break legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 15,921 runs. Apart from him, no other active cricketer has surpassed the 10,000-run mark in Test cricket.

‘I want to keep enjoying myself and keep playing’: Joe Root

A Journalist asked Root a question about breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record and he said that he wanted to contribute to winning games for England. He further added that he is trying to be successful in whatever conditions are in front of him. Root also said that he wants to keep enjoying and keep playing.

“I think, more than anything, you judge yourself based on how many games you can affect and how many games you can win for the team. The big driver for me is how many times I can contribute to winning games for England. If with that mindset, I am trying to be successful in whatever conditions are in front of me, that is a good enough driver for me. I want to keep enjoying myself and keep playing. I look at enjoying that at the moment” Joe Root said in a press-conference.

Ahead of the Multan Test, England batter Joe Root said that milestones don’t drive him any more and he is focused on enjoying his time with the England team.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
