New Delhi: Mohamed Salah is without a doubt the best forward Liverpool have had in recent memory, and former manager Jürgen Klopp has stated that he hopes the player stays with the team. Salah, who is currently going strong at 32, stated earlier in January that a deal was “far away” from being struck, and his contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
“I hope he stays,” Klopp told reporters in response to a question regarding the issue. Klopp further praised Salah by saying that he is the best forward Liverpool have had over the past few years. According to him, there were undoubtedly other excellent strikers, but Salah was the greatest ambassador Egypt could have, a superb athlete, a wonderful person, and a tremendous player.
“Fantastic in all departments, so I hope he will stay at Liverpool.”

When Salah joined Anfield from Roma in June 2017, Klopp was the manager. In his first season on Merseyside, Salah scored 44 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions, making a strong impression. Together, the two went on to win numerous trophies, including the League Cup, FA Cup, Premier League, and Champions League. Ever since the Egyptian left Roma for Liverpool, he has been a goal scoring monster, breaking a numerous records under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.
It is fair to say that Klopp has a special connectio with him, as he was the one who introduced the menace of Mohamed Salah to the world. Over the past few seasons, there hasn’t been a single campaign where Salah hasn’t scored 20+ goals in all competitions. Prior to announcing his comeback to football in October as Red Bull’s global head of soccer, Klopp declared in January 2024 that he will depart Liverpool at the conclusion of the 2023–24 campaign.
In that season, Salah was yet again Liverpool’s main man with 25 goals and 13 assists in all competitions, and this season he is only taking those numbers to a whole new level.
