New Delhi: Conor McGregor is being sued by a woman who alleges to have been sexually assaulted by the former UFC champion. According to reports, the 49-year-old woman has filed a civil lawsuit against McGregor and NBA side Miami Heat.
Former UFC star and boxer McGregor is accused of trying to rape the woman in a VIP bathroom of Kaseya Cente during an NBA game and it has been mentioned that his security prevented her friend from helping her.
The accusing woman has been identified as vice president of a top financial institution on Wall Street and the incident happened in June 2023. The woman is a resident of Miami-Dade County who filed the lawsuit in the US District Court, Southern District of Florida.
In it, she claimed that the 34-year-old McGregor sexually misbehaved with her in the restroom after the fourth game of the NBA Finals between Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat on June 9 of last year.
The plaintiff claimed that she met up with McGregor in the hospitality area and then was taken to a VIP men’s bathroom where she was sexually assaulted.
Compensation and medical costs
In the lawsuit, it has been claimed that intoxicated way beyond control, McGregor forced to perform a sexual act onto her without consent and then her friend was denied from entering the bathroom to offer help by the UFC star’s security team, ESPN reported.
The incident was reported by the woman two days after it allegedly happened. The victim claimed that she was pinned on a wall and her arms locked by McGregor and when she tried to leave she was spat in the face.
TMZ has obtained multiple videos where McGregor can be seen speaking with and leading a woman into the bathroom surrounded by his bodyguards.
The accuser’s attorney James Dunn that since her identity has been leaked, she has decided to raise the case now.
“After the Miami-Dade County Prosecutor’s office elected not to pursue criminal charges, a civil case is the only avenue that my client has to seek justice in this case,” Dunn said in a statement.
McGregor’s counsel Barbara Llanes said: “After a thorough investigation at the time, the State’s Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue. Almost two years and at least three lawyers later the complainant has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed.”
The lady has sought financial damages for the alleged incident.
