Free Aadhaar update last date extended again | Check new deadline

New Delhi: The last date to update your Aadhaar for free has been extended again by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to September 14, 2024 from June 14, 2024. Now, citizens can upload documents required to update Aadhaar details such as the proof of identity and proof of address for free until September 14. After this date, they will have to pay a certain fee for updating these details. Citizens can go to UIDAI’s myAadhaar portal to update these details for free.

However, one must know that, even now, these services are free only when accessed online. Even currently, if somebody approaches nearest Aadhaar Centre to update the Proof of Identity and Proof of Address in their Adhaar card, then, they will have to pay Rs 50 service fees. The government may levy similar charges for availing the services via online modes after the September 14 deadline.

The government has time and time extended the deadline to update Aadhaar details for free. Once, the government starts levy of fees, then, citizens will have to pay charges even for small changes in their Aadhaar cards. So, it will be beneficial for them if they avail of the free service now.
