French forward Antoine Griezmann announces his retirement from International football

New Delhi: 33-year-old French International Antoine Griezmann has decided to hang up his boots from International duty as he announced his retirement from national team. He announced his decision in a social media post where he decided to call time on his 10-year career with the France National Team. It comes as a bit of a surprise as he looked to fight for a place in the squad for the next FIFA World Cup, which is less than two years away.

The Atletico Madrid star becomes another one of France’s historic 2018 FIFA World Cup winning squad to quit International football following the retirements of Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud. He was a part of every squad for a major tournament that France were a part of since the 2014 FIFA World Cup and his versatility made him an integral part of Didier Deschamps’ set-up.
