About Honey Bees
Honey bees are famous for their intricate construction of enduring colonial nests made from wax, their ability to form large colonies, and their impressive surplus production and storage of honey. These characteristics make their hives a coveted target for foraging by various animals, including honey badgers, bears, and human hunter-gatherers. Presently, there are only eight recognised surviving species of honey bees, comprising 43 subspecies.
