New Delhi: In 2024, Gautam Adani (62) and his family ascended to the top of the 2024 Hurun India rich list with a staggering wealth of Rs 11.6 lakh crore, surpassing Mukesh Ambani. According to the report, India welcomed a new billionaire approximately every five days last year. It’s worth noting that the wealth calculations were based on a snapshot taken as of July 31, 2024.
As cricket and movies are the heartbeat of the nation, for the first time ever, Indian movie star Shah Rukh Khan has made it to the Hurun India Rich List.
The youngest person on the 2024 Hurun India rich list is 21-year-old Kaivalya Vohra of Zepto, a $5 billion quick commerce startup. His co-founder, Aadit Palicha, 22, is the second youngest.

Hurun India Rich List
According to the Hurun India Rich List, 1,539 individuals (up by 220) across 134 cities had Rs 1,000 crore in 2024. Cumulative wealth has increased by 46 per cent, while the average wealth increased by 25 per cent. On the other hand, 1,334 individuals saw an increase in their wealth or stayed the same, of which 272 new faces, while 205 saw their wealth drop and were 45 dropouts. India is now home to 335 billionaires, up by 75 compared to last year.
Anas Rahman Junaid, Founder and Chief Researcher of Hurun India, said, “India continues to score Gold in the Wealth Creation Olympics. The number of billionaires in 2024 Hurun India Rich List hists triple century, will all top 20 sectors adding new faces to the list…showcasing the unstoppable spirit of Indian entrepreneurs as they drive across the board.”
According to Hurun India’s founder, nearly 70 per cent of the list’s members, representing a combined wealth of almost US $1.5 trillion, or more than one-third of India’s GDP, are on the cusp of intergenerational transition.
