New Delhi: Celebrations erupted inside the Parliament of Iran after Israel came under the attack of barrage of missile fired at it late on Monday. Iran on Tuesday launched a barrage of missiles at Israel as alarms blared across the country and civilians rushed for shelter. Following the attacks, Iran said the attack on Israel was in response to the killings of Guards commander and other leaders.
Iran fired at least 180 missiles towards Israel on Tuesday, another sharp escalation of the months-long conflict between Israel and Iran-backed militant groups Hezbollah and Hamas.
Visuals have emerged from inside the Parliament of Iran wherein the leaders can be seen erupting in joy after their retaliation. Iranian Parliament Speaker Qalibaf also issued a statement which also found the mention of slain Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. Qalibaf referred Nasrallah as a ‘martyr’. Qalibaf also said that “Islamic Republic is fully prepared in case of any “Israeli craziness.”
Rise in Middle East Tensions
Recently, a wave of Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon left Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and several of his top commanders dead, crippling the Iran-backed millitant group.
The aerial atacks also prompted hundreds of thousands of Lebanese to flee their homes and take shelter to safer places. Therafter, Israel intensified its military operations and launched what it said was a limited ground incursion in southern Lebanon, further raising tensions in the region.
The recent Iranian attack on Israel came amid concerns over the likelihood of widening of the ongoing conflict. Meawhile, Iran said the attack was to take revenge for the killing of Hezbollah’s leader and his top commanders. It also mentioned Ismail Haniyeh, a top leader in Hamas who was assassinated in Tehran in a suspected Israeli attack in July. Notably, Haniyeh was eliminated while he was attending the inauguration of the new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
