India Asks its Nationals in Iran to Stay ‘Vigilant’ as Middle East Conflict Escalates

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday issued a travel advisory for Indians travelling to Iran urging them to ‘avoid all non-essential plans’ amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

“We are closely monitoring the recent escalation in security situation in the region. Indian nationals are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran. Those currently residing in Iran are requested to remain vigilant and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran,” it said in the statement.

This comes as Iran on late Tuesday launched nearly 200 missiles at Israel, triggering sirens across the country. However, Israeli media reported that no major damage or casualties have been reported in the ballistic missiles attack by Iran.

‘Please Exercise Caution’: Indian Embassy Issues Advisory To Its Nationals In Tel Aviv

Following the escalating tensions, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv on Tuesday issued an advisory for Indian nationals amid the prevailing situation in the region.

“In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indian nationals in Israel are advised to stay vigilant and adhere to safety protocols as advised by the local authorities,” it said.

“Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel within the country and stay close to safety shelters,” the embassy added.

The Embassy further shared helpline numbers where Indian nationals can call in case of emergency. “The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and remains in regular touch with Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of all our nationals,” it said, adding, “In case of any emergency, please contact the 24×7 helpline of the Embassy – +972-547520711 and +972-543278392.”

‘Made a Big Mistake…’: PM Benjamin Netanyahu Pledges Payback

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday night in a video statement vowed to pledge, saying “Iran made a big mistake tonight,” adding that the country will now pay for it. This comes as Iran launches nearly 200 missiles across Israel.

He further called the attack a “failure” and suggested that Iran will now face the same fate as the terrorist groups, Hamas and Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Defense Force spokesperson RAdm. Daniel Hagari asserted that Iran will now have to face ‘consequences’ wherever and whenever it chooses.

“Iran’s attack is a severe and dangerous escalation. There will be consequences…We will respond wherever, whenever and however we choose, in accordance with the directive of the government of Israel.”
