New Delhi: After a horrendous start from India A top order, wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel batted brilliantly under pressure and stitched a crucial 53-run partnership with Devdutt Padikkal before adding another 39 runs along with Nitish Kumar Reddy.
He scored 80 runs off 184 balls with the help of six boundaries and two maximums. His exceptional innings helped India A to breach the 150-run mark. Jurel made his Test debut for India during the five-match home Test series against England.
But after that, the wicketkeeper-batter did not get enough opportunities in the longer format. His only involvement in the New Zealand series was in the first Test when Rishabh Pant got injured and the youngster substituted him with the gloves in Bengaluru.

Earlier, India A suffered a horrific collapse in the second unofficial Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and lost 4 wickets in just three overs. Australia A fast bowler Michael Neser removed Abhimanyu Easwaran on a duck in the first over and on the next delivery, he removed Sai Sudharsan on a duck.
KL Rahul, who was added to India A squad on Wednesday along with Dhruv Jurel, only managed to score 4 runs. Neser also removed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad on four runs and picked up his 3rd wicket of the match. Jurel and Padikkal batted brilliantly and stitched a partnership for the fifth wicket.
