New Delhi: Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh secured India’s second medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, bagging a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol mixed event. This was India’s second medal in shooting at the Paris Olympics after Bhaker’s bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event.
India took a 4-2 lead after the third series and extended the lead to 8-2 after the fifth series. Korea closed the gap to 10-6 after the eighth series but the Indian duo remained composed and secured the second medal for the country.
Manu Bhaker became the first Indian after Independence to win two medals at the same Olympic Games. Indian shuttler Satwiksairaj Rankireddy said that Manu Bhaker’s bronze medal wins have given a lot of confidence to the entire contingent. He also praised Manu and said it’s not easy to win two medals.
“It has given a lot of boost to the whole contingent. Before we came for the match, we saw that she won the bronze again. So we were like, ‘it’s our time, nobody can stop us’. Really (feeling) positive. Kudos to her. To win two medals, not only one, is definitely not easy,” Satwiksairaj Rankireddy told the press on Tuesday.
‘He is lucky for me’: Satwiksairaj on Neeraj Chopra
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy also revealed that he met with Neeraj Chopra before the match against Indonesian duo Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Fajar Alfian. He also said that Neeraj Chopra is lucky for him.
“Today I met Neeraj bhai in the morning. The golden arm. He is lucky for me. I said, ‘bhaiya, match ke liye ja rahe hai. He wished us all the best and I felt, yes, today is our day”. Satwik added.
Satwik and Chirag won their last group-stage match in the men’s double event by defeating Muhammad Rian and Fajar in straight games (21-13, 21-13) at the La Chapelle Arena’s court 3.
