Glenn Maxwell becomes third Australian batter to reach 10,000 runs in men’s T20s

New Delhi: Glenn Maxwell put on a show in the first T20I against Pakistan at The Gabba in Brisbane on November 14, Thursday. He smashed 43 runs off 19 balls in the seven-over match with five boundaries and three maximums.

He also completed 10,000 runs in T20 cricket and became only third Australian batter to achieve this milestone after David Warner and Aaron Finch. Overall, Maxwell became the 16th batter in T20 Cricket to surpass the 10,000-run mark.

Chris Gayle is in the first position on the list with 14562 runs and Shoaib Malik is in second position with 13360 runs while Kieron Pollard is in third spot with 13355 runs.  For India, Virat Kohli is in fifth spot with 12886 runs. Maxwell needed just 12 runs to go past the 10,000-run mark and he did so in style by hitting three boundaries in the single over against Naseem Shah.

Australia beat Pakistan in first T2oI

Australia beat Pakistan by 29 runs in the first T20I at the Gabba in Brisbane. The match got delayed due to lightning and heavy rain. The Aussies scored 93 runs in the seven overs after Pakistan opted to bowl first.  Maxwell notched up 43 runs off 19 balls while Marcus Stoinis also scored an unbeaten 21 runs off 7 a balls with the help of two boundaries and one maximum.

Chasing the 94-run target, Pakistan lost crucial wickets at the regular intervals. Sahibazada, Rizwan, Babar, Usman and Agha Salman all failed to score runs. Abbas Afridi scored an unbeaten 20 runs off 10 balls with the help of two boundaries and one maximum. Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis took three wickets each and Adam Zampa also picked up one wicket. The second T20I will be played on November 16 at Sydney Cricket Ground.
