New Delhi: Gold price today in India surged Rs 331 to Rs 72,108 per 10 gm on the MCX as traders created new positions in the aftermath of US Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell’s speech last week that the US central bank may consider rate cuts at its next meeting since inflation was largely under control. Another immediate reason behind the spike was the escalation of hostilities between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah. Gold futures rose 0.38 per cent to $2,556.10 per ounce in US markets.
