New Delhi: Google Doodle on every special occasion or festival celebrates it with special illustrations to show respect and honour to particular events across the globe. With the current Paralympics ongoing in Paris, Google is supporting the para-athletes with various illustrations.
On September 5, 2024, the Google illustration turned into a beautiful birf lifting some heavy weights with courage, strength and confidence to win the medal. The illustration marked the beginning of the powerlifting games at the Paris Paralympic 2024.
The doodle seemed powerlifting the weights seemed like a loaf of bread at the ‘Arena Porte De La Chapelle’. On the bread loaf, another chicken is sitting and eating the bread. Google on its official account celebrated with ‘The wait is over and the weight is on. Get ready for today’s Para Powerlifting event at Arena Porte de La Chappelle!’
The events that commenced from 4th September will be ongoing till September 8, 2024, in various categories.
Powerlifting became a part of the Paralympic Games lineup in 1984, marking its addition to the roster two decades after the Paralympics began. However, it wasn’t until the Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000 that women were finally granted the opportunity to participate in the sport. This inclusion allowed female athletes to compete in powerlifting on the Paralympic stage, showcasing their strength and skill alongside their male counterparts for the first time in history.
Google Doodle celebrates the Paris Paralympics by featuring special artwork dedicated to the sport of powerlifting highlighting the strength, confidence and dedication.
