Grand 3-day celebrations to mark Ayodhya Ram temple’s consecration anniversary

Mumbai: Ayodhya is gearing up for a grand celebration to mark the first anniversary of the consecration of Lord Ram’s idol at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The city will be adorned like a bride to welcome devotees from across the country. Champat Rai, the general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, announced that the event will be celebrated as per the Indian lunar calendar, with special ceremonies and cultural programs planned for the occasion.

The consecration ceremony, originally performed on January 22, 2024, falls on Paush Shukla Dwadashi. In 2025, the same day will be observed on January 11, which will be celebrated as ‘Pratishtha Dwadashi.’ The festivities will span three days and will feature a blend of religious rituals, musical recitations, and cultural events across four key locations in Ayodhya.

Key Dates and Historical Context

The consecration of the idol was performed on January 22, 2024, during the auspicious day of Paush Shukla Dwadashi. In 2025, Paush Shukla Dwadashi falls on January 11, which will be celebrated as ‘Pratishtha Dwadashi.’ A series of three-day-long events are planned across four locations to mark this occasion.

Event Highlights

1. Ceremonies at the Temple Complex

A grand fire ritual (yajna) will be conducted at the temple’s yajna mandap. This will include:

Chanting of 1,975 mantras from the 40 chapters of the Shukla Yajurveda Madhyandini branch.
Offerings to Agni Dev (Fire God).
Recitations by 11 Vedic scholars.

Schedule:

Morning Session: 8 AM to 11 AM
Afternoon Session: 2 PM to 5 PM

Additionally, there will be two sessions of chanting the Shri Ram mantra, targeting a total of 600,000 chants. Other recitations, such as Ram Raksha Stotra, Hanuman Chalisa, Purusha Suktam, Shri Suktam, Aditya Hridaya Stotram, and Atharvashirsha, will also take place.

2. Programs on the Ground Floor of the Temple

At the southern prayer pavilion, the following activities are planned:

Daily Rag Seva: Devotional music performances for Lord Ram from 3 PM to 5 PM.
Evening Celebrations: Bhajans and songs dedicated to Lord Ram from 6 PM to 9 PM in the temple courtyard.

3. Events at the Pilgrim Facilitation Center

The first floor of the Pilgrim Facilitation Center will host a three-day musical recital of the Ramcharitmanas.

4. Cultural Programs at Angad Tila Ground

Ram Katha: From 2 PM to 3:30 PM.
Discourse on Ramcharitmanas: From 3:30 PM to 5 PM.
Evening Cultural Programs: From 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, various cultural activities will be held daily.

On January 11, prasadam (blessed food) will be distributed to devotees starting in the morning. Champat Rai assured that the arrangements will ensure smooth and secure access for all devotees to enjoy the festivities.
