Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh walks out of jail on 20-day parole under tight security

Dera Sacha Sauda chief and sexual assault convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on Wednesday walked out of the Sunaria jail in Haryana’s Rohtak for 20-day parole.

The Haryana government has granted Singh a 20-day parole while prohibiting him from participating in election-related activities, making speeches, or staying in the state during that time.

Singh is serving a 20-year term for sexually assaulting two of his disciples. In 2019, the Dera chief and three others were convicted of the murder of a journalist that occurred more than 16 years earlier.

Singh received a 21-day furlough in August of this year. He was allowed three weeks of furlough beginning February 7, 2022, only two weeks before the Punjab Assembly elections.
