Hakim Ziyech declares Galatasaray career over, takes aim at coach Okan Buruk.

New Delhi: Hakim Ziyech, a former Chelsea player has acknowledged that he regrets joining Galatasaray and intends to depart the team with the opening of the midseason transfer window. When Ziyech joined the Turkish club from the Blues in the summer of 2023, he was greeted like a hero. At Rams Park, there were memorable moments when the Morocco international emerged amid the club’s ultras after a Super Lig match, his new teammates cheering from the sidelines. Things have gotten nasty, though, and he is now determined to leave.

Ziyech is clearlt not happy in Turkey, and it was evident when he told a Turkish journalist that Galatasaray is over for him and he is no longer willing to play for them anymore. He has made it pretty clear that he will be leaving the Turkish champions this January. The 31-year-old has barely played any football this season, as he has only been given 147 minutes of play where he started just three times. The Morocco international also attacked Galatasaray manager Buruk, claiming he no longer wants to play for the team.

The Moroccan had some things to say about coach Okan Buruk: “I’ve never seen a coach of such a low level. I don’t care that much [if joining Galatasaray was a mistake]. I want to be left alone, no matter what happens. I regret coming here.”

How did Ziyech get into this situation?

Despite injury concerns, Ziyech had a successful debut season, scoring eight goals and dishing out four assists in 23 games as his team amassed an astonishing 102 points to win the championship. After that, his contract was finalized, but this season has not gone as planned, with Ziyech playing just eight of his 24 games, seven of them as a substitute.

Despite winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup with the London club, the Moroccan failed to adapt to the changing Chelsea team after the Blues paid £34 million to recruit him from Ajax in 2020. Ziyech joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan in August 2023, with the option to make the move permanent.

Despite Ziyech still having a year left on his Chelsea contract, the Turkish took advantage of the situation and made him their first free summer addition. The former Ajax player agreed to a one-year contract with Istanbul, with the possibility of an extension if certain requirements are fulfilled. Despite his travel to the French city, he failed to secure a loan move to PSG on January 2023 deadline day after losing favor under Graham Potter, despite scoring 14 goals in 107 Chelsea appearances.

What next for Ziyech?

Ziyech’s career seems to be headed in the wrong direction after he lost favour at Chelsea and now Galatasaray. The former Ajax player’s contract expires in the summer of next year, but he might go before then because the Turkish powerhouses are unlikely to approve of these remarks. With the January transfer market only a few weeks away, Ziyech’s future with Galatasaray may be in doubt. Additionally, he might expire his contract and become a free agent at the end of the season.

There have been rumours going around that suggest that the Moroccon might land in the Saudi League after his stints at Netherlands, England and Turkey. There are no real rumours related to him making a comeback to one of the top leagues, but his style of play can very well be suitable for a side like Thiago Motta’s Juventus side of one of the Serie A mid-table clubs.

Hakim Ziyech has declared his time over at Galatasaray and launched a harsh attack on coach Okan Buruk, calling him “low level.”  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
