New Delhi: Harleen Deol smashed her maiden ODI century as India dominated the proceedings in the 2nd ODI against West Indies at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday. Harleen came out to bat at no.3 after a terrific start from openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal and ensured India didn’t lose the momentum as she went on to play a magnificent knock of 115 runs.
Harleen went on to complete her first ODI ton for India with a boundary off the bowling of Shamilia Connell in the 47th over. The right-hander who has been backed by India at no.3, looked in exceptional touch as she played some elegant strokes, and pierced gaps with perfection while going after the loose deliveries.
Harleen joined young opener Pratika Rawal in the middle after the in-form Smriti Mandhana got run out following a dazzling knock of 53 runs off 47 balls. Mandhana’s wicket marked an end to the 100-run stand between her and Rawal, who continued her great run by notching up her maiden ODI fifty en route to her 76 off 86 balls.
Harleen combined with Pratika to add an important stand of 62 runs for the second wicket before sharing another crucial partnership of 43 runs with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who was dismissed cheaply after scoring 22 off 18 balls. Harleen held one end strongly after Harmanpreet’s dismissal and kept the scoreboard ticking.
Harleen notched up her half-century off 62 balls before racing to her maiden ODI ton off just 98 deliveries. The Indian batter finished with a brilliant 115 laced off 103 balls laced with 16 fours in what was one of the best knocks of her international career so far.

Harleen Deol, Jemimah Rodrigues power India to 358/5 in 2nd ODI
Harleen’s cracking 115 and a brilliant knock of 52 runs off 36 balls from Jemimah powered India to 358/5, their joint-highest total in a women’s ODI. Harleen and Jemimah combined to add a 116-run stand for the 4th wicket to set the stage for a 350-plus total for the Women in Blue. It was only the second time in history that India managed to cross the 350-run mark in a women’s ODI.
They equalled their previous best of 358/2 which came in an ODI against Ireland in Potchefstroom in 2017. It was a dominant batting display from India as four of the top five batters notched up fifty-plus scores in the match, taking the West Indies bowlers to the cleaners. Harleen top-scored with her 115 followed by Pratika’s 76 while Smriti and Jemimah scored 53 and 52 runs respectively in the 2nd ODI to play their part in India’s domination.
