New Delhi: Harry Kane has responded to former Bayern Munich and German midfielder Dietmar Hamann’s comments. Hamman had suggested previously that the English captain isn’t able to score goals during big matches and performing at the big stage.
After moving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, Kane has scored 64 goals and made 21 assists in 62 appearances for Bayern. For his efforts in the 2023-24 season, where he scored 36 goals, he was given the Kicker-Torjagerkanone in his debut season. This season, he has already scored 20 goals from 17 appearances, including hattricks against Stuttgart and Holsten Kiel.
In the Champions League, he had scored during Bayern’s 4-1 defeat to Barcelona. However, his failure to score against Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa and Benfica has put him under scrutiny for his performance against the big names. In October, Hamann said that Kane needed to step up in big games and not just improve his tally against teams like Darmstadt. The comments had come right after Bayern’s loss to Aston Villa.
Kane hasn’t been able to capture any major trophies in both club and international football. His debut season at Bayern also ended in a failure to win the Bundesliga title for first time since 2012 with Leverkusen lifting the trophy for the first time.
The 31-year-old is the highest all-time scorer for both Tottenham and England and recently became the fastest player to cross 50 goals in Bundesliga, smashing Erling Haaland’s record during his hattrick against Augsburg.

Kane has now reacted to the comments, noting that he has tried to score consistently. The English midfielder further noted that his last season’s goals had come against the big teams, including Dortmund and Stuttgart. He observed that it was a big week for the team, with Bayern yet to win a game in the Champions League after four games and currently looking at elimination.
Kane noted that more than scoring he wanted to consistently win the games and wanted to help the team in every way possible. In his column Hamann had noted that the loss would give Kane a reality check and went on to say that he unsure about Kane’s playmanship yet.
Further, the former Liverpool midfielder said that despite the number of goals he had scored in the season, he needed to bring in good performances against teams like Aston Villa and Leverkusen. Further, he felt that Kane needed to score in the knockout stages. Bayern will be playing Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League, and Kane has already noted that the team needs to win every game. A lot of this will depend on him having scored five times in the four games he has played so far.
Harry Kane is currently the highest scorer in the Bundesliga season and has now reacted to former German midfielder Dietmar Hamann’s criticism. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
