New Delhi: Team India will take on New Zealand in the third Test match at the Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai from November 1. Rohit and Co. have already lost the series after losing the first two Test matches.
Tom Latham and Co. arrived in India after losing the Test series against Sri Lanka. Fans and experts expected the Men in Blue to dominate the Test series but the Blackcaps played brilliant cricket and won their first-ever Test series in India.
‘Jasprit Bumrah definitely needs a rest’: Dinesh Karthik
Former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik believes that star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah needs rest ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He further added that Siraj will replace him in the Mumbai Test.
“Jasprit Bumrah definitely needs a rest without a doubt. That is happening, and you will see Mohammed Siraj come in. I can’t think of any other change unless someone has a niggle. I don’t see any reason why the batters who played this game or the bowlers should not get an opportunity” Karthik told Cricbuzz.
Bumrah has taken only three wickets in Two Test matches
The Men in Blue lost their first-ever Test series on home soil since 2012. New Zealand defeated India by 113 runs in the second Test in Pune. While Rohit and Co. suffered an eight-wicket loss in the first Test in Bengaluru.
Bumrah has not been at his best during the home Test series against New Zealand and has only taken three wickets at an economy of 3.09 in the two Test matches. The star Indian pacer has also played in the two Test series against Bangladesh which India won by 2-0.
The two losses against New Zealand also impacted India’s chances of making it to the third consecutive World Test Championship (WTC) final as they need to win at least four matches out of the six. The Men in Blue will face Australia in the five-match Test series, starting on November 22.
