New Delhi: James Anderson picked up 4 wickets in his final Test as England defeated West Indies by an innings and 114 runs at The Lord’s in London on Friday, July 12. Anderson’s family was delighted as the legendary bowler took his final wicket of an outstanding Test career.
Ben Stokes and Co. took a 250-run lead after getting all out for 371 runs. But the England bowlers rattled the West Indies batting line-up and left the Men in Maroon in a troubling position with 79/6 at the end of Day 2 and dismissed them for 121 in the first session of Day 3.
However, all the spotlight was on James Anderson when he walked out on the field for the last time and received a guard of honour from his team and West Indies players. After taking 2 wickets in the second innings, the legendary pacer dismissed Joshua de Silva and took his third and final wicket of the Test career.
Anderson got the wicket of Joshua de Silva in his second over of Day 3. He bowled a full delivery in the offside corridor and the ball swung in and shapes away late to catch the outside edge of the bat and Jamie Smith took a great catch to his right side.
