New Delhi: Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract with Liverpool that will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2027. The club made the announcement on Friday, bringing an end to months of uncertainty around the Egyptian forward’s future. Salah’s previous deal was set to expire this summer, which had sparked questions about whether he would move elsewhere, especially with clubs from Saudi Arabia and Europe showing interest. But Liverpool were always confident of convincing him to stay, and now, they’ve managed to do just that.

Talks between Liverpool and Salah’s representatives had been ongoing for several months. Richard Hughes, the new sporting director, led the negotiations with Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa.

The forward, who has been a key part of Liverpool’s success over the last few seasons, will now remain the face of their attack under new head coach Arne Slot. The deal is seen as a major boost ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, especially as the club moves into a new era post-Jurgen Klopp.

New boss Arne Slot said he was happy with how things worked out. He mentioned that the club made a lot of effort to keep Salah, and that effort wasn’t just about money. It was about showing the player the ambition for the future. Slot believes Salah’s decision to stay also shows faith in what the club is planning. With new ideas and a fresh coaching style coming in, Liverpool wanted to keep a strong base—and Salah is a big part of that.

Salah’s new deal also brings relief to fans, who were growing concerned about the lack of clarity around his contract. By keeping one of their biggest stars, Liverpool have sent a clear message that they want to compete seriously next season. It’s not just about keeping the past together—it’s about building a strong future.
