How Nitish Reddy notched up his maiden Test hundred amid high-tension drama at MCG?

New Delhi: Team India all-rounder Nitish Reddy scored his maiden international hundred in the Boxing Day Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Saturday, December 27. The Indian all-rounder went through a few anxious moments when he was batting in the nervous 90’s.

He celebrated his first Test half-century in Pushpa style and then converted it into a stunning hundred off 171 balls, but not without some drama. He was batting on 97 runs when Nathan Lyon dismissed Washington Sundar on 50 runs and ended the 127-run partnership for the eighth wicket. After that, Nitish denied taking singles to retain the strike.

Australian captain Pat Cummins removed Bumrah on a duck and the Men in Blue lost their ninth wicket on 350 runs, Nitish needed just one run to complete his hundred at that point. Mohammed Siraj defended the next three deliveries to end Pat Cummins’ over. He reached to his maiden Test hundred by hitting a boundary straight over the bowlers head in the next over.
