New Delhi: If you are looking to lose weight, only exercises or a workout session won’t help. A gradual weight loss reduction demands change in eating habits and changes in lifestyle, this can help in maintaining a healthy weight.
When it comes to diet, there are a lot of choices such as plans, supplements, medications and fads but how to know what is the best way to lose weight in a healthy sustainable way?
In conversation with News9, Jahan Vij, Health and Fat Loss Coach said, “Sustainable weight loss does not just mean losing pounds quickly, it means changing your lifestyle and eating habits permanently.”
Below are some tips for sustainable eating for weight loss:
• Concentrate on whole, nutritious foods:Include fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains and healthy fats in your daily diet. Besides being good for you, these items also make one feel full longer thus making it easier to stick to the goals of losing weight.
• Control portions: Watch serving sizes even if they are healthy meals never eat too much at once. Check how hungry or satisfied you are before adding more food.
• Reduce intake of processed foods and added sugars: Processed snacks may be high in calories but have few nutrients so people tend to consume too many calories from them without realizing it. Instead opt for natural unprocessed foods where possible, while keeping an eye on drinks with lots of sugar such as sodas and juices.
• Drink enough water: Taking plenty of fluids is necessary since this helps keep our bodies hydrated throughout thereby enhancing a feeling of fullness which could even contribute towards shedding off some extra pounds.
• Stay disciplined: Consistency is the key if you want sustainable results when trying to lose weight. Therefore always choose healthier options though occasionally allowing yourself small pleasures in limited amounts would also work wonders towards attaining such goals.
• Physical activity is important too: Although nutrition plays the main part in any program aimed at reducing body mass index (BMI), regular exercises should not be ignored because they help increase metabolic rate leading into burning more calories than usual.
