How to get EPF Child Pension? Age, eligibility, benefits & EPS 95 details

New Delhi: Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) provides family pension to dependents of the subscriber (EPF member) in case of his death. After retirement at the age of 58, the EPF member can withdraw pension for life from his EPS 95 account. But if he dies due to any reason, then, his family is entitled to get some part of the pension amount which he was eligible to get.

EPF family definition

The EPF family definition is member’s spouse and two children at a time. After the EPF member’s death, his spouse and two children are entitled to get pension. According to the EPFO rules, the spouse is entitled to 50 per cent of the EPF member’s pension. While, the two children are entitled to 25 per cent of the spouse’s pension till they attain age of 25. Remember, the children’s pension is over and above the spouse’s pension. Children’s pension is not included in the spouse’s pension.

According to the EPFO rules, EPS 95 pension limit is Rs 1,250 per month for the EPF member. So, the spouse will get Rs 625 per month (50%* 1,250). While, each children will get minimum of Rs 250 pension.

EPS Children Pension Benefits

If there are four children in the family, then, the two elder children will get the children pension. While, other two children will not get it. But if either of the top two eldest children turn 25, then, in place of him, the third child becomes eligible for receipt of pension. Similarly, when, both the top two eldest children turn 25, then, the other two will become eligible for the EPS pension provided they too haven’t turned 25.

EPF Child Pension Claim Form

EPF Form 10D is mandatory for receipt of EPS 95 Children Pension Benefits. The submission process is online. Along with the above documents, the EPF member’s childen also need to submit the Form 10D for receipt of EPS 95 pension.
