Hyderabad Police on Tuesday clarified about the closing timing of shops after a video went viral on social media with police making an announcement for shops to be closed by 11 pm in the old city area.
In a post on social media platform X, Hyderabad City Police said that the claims are misleading. “The recent social media news making rounds that city police are closing shops by 10.30 or 11 pm are totally misleading. The shops and establishments will open/close as per the already existing rules only.”
In the viral video, police were heard saying from the vehicle “11 ke baad logan dikhna hi ich nayi. Agar dikhe toh maar dete, lathicharge kar dete. No friendly police, lathicharge police.”
11 ke baad logan dikhna ich nai, dikhe toh mardete, Lathi charge kardete.
No friendly police, Lathi charge police.

After the video surfaced online, AIMIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out at the police saying that such an announcement would not be made in Jubilee Hills.
“Whether they are Irani chai hotels or pan shops or commercial establishments, they should be allowed to remain open till 12 AM at least. In any case, there should be a uniform policy across the board. Big metros across the country allow shops to be open in the night. There’s already an economic downturn. Why is it different in Hyderabad?” Owaisi wrote.
In the viral video, police warned that people should not be seen on the roads after 11 pm and if they are out, they will be ‘lathicharged’. Telangana States News India: Top News India, States News, States News Headlines, Online State News India, State Politics news
