New Delhi: Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan retired from international and domestic cricket on Saturday and said that he would want his son Zoraver to remember him as a good human being. Dhawan was a vital cog for the Indian cricket team in the white-ball format, specially in the ICC events as he played a major role in getting titles for the Men in Blue. He shared a heartwarming video on his social media handles to announce his retirement.
“As I close this chapter of my cricketing journey, I carry with me countless memories and gratitude. Thank you for the love and support! Jai Hind!” Dhawan wrote as caption of the video. Tributes poured in by the fans and notable Indian cricketers who also played for Team India with Dhawan. Apart from all this, Dhawan talked about his son Zoraver post-retirement. It is well-known that he shares an adorable bond with his son.
In a recent interview, the Delhi batter was asked how he would want his son to remember his father’s cricketing career. Dhawan gave a heartwarming and emotional reply saying that he would want his son to remember him as the person who would do good deeds and spread positivity.
“Zoraver is 11 now. I hope he gets to know about my retirement & all about my cricket journey but more than as a cricketer, I would like for Zoraver to remember me as a good human being who does good deeds & brings positivity to people around him,” Dhawan told Hindustan Times.
Shikhar Dhawan’s divorce
38-year-old Dhawan was granted divorce from his estranged wife Ayesha Mukherjee by a Delhi local court in October 2023 on the grounds of Dhawan being subjected to mental cruelty. Earlier this year on the occasion of Father’s Day, Dhawan revealed that he currently has no contact with Zoraver who is 9 now.
Dhawan and Ayesha married back in 2012 and were blessed with a baby boy in 2014 whom they named Zoraver. In the appeal, Dhawan said that Ayesha initially agreed to stay with him in India but turned back due to her commitment towards her daughters from her previous marriage, which required her to stay in Australia. Dhawan has time and again stated how desperately he wants to meet his son and spend quality time. He is yearning to meet Zoraver and hasn’t talked to him in six months.
Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from cricket on Saturday and talked about his son Zoraver, whom he has not met since his divorce with Ayesha Mukherjee. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
