New Delhi: Ever since legendary Indian tennis player Sania Mirza’s divorce news was confirmed with Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik in January this year, there have been rumours about the tennis ace’s marriage plans with Indian cricket team fast bowler Mohammed Shami on internet.
An AI-generated picture of Shami and Sania purpotedly showed them in wedding dress together. But the news was debunked as the pictures were taken from the sportsperson’s respective marriages with their previous partners Hasin Jahan and Shoaib Malik.
In a conversation with NDTV, Sania Mirza’s father Imran said the news of his daughter and Shami getting married was ‘rubbish’ and he revealed that the duo has never met each other in real life.
After months of speculations, Shami ended his silence on the matter. The 33-year-old Indian pacer asked people to be responsible and took a dig at the ones creating such rumours while taking the use of unverified accounts on social media platforms.
“I urge everyone to be responsible with social media and refrain from spreading such unfounded news,” Shami told journalist Shubhankar Mishra on the latter’s YouTube channel.
“It is weird and done purposely for some lame fun. But what can be done? If I open my phone then I could see those memes. But I would only like to say I think that memes are made for fun, but if they are related to someone’s life, then you must think about it and then share such things. These people share from unverified pages and get away by saying anything and everything.”
“But I would like to say one thing – if you have the guts to say all these things from a verified page, then I will reply. Try achieving success, help people and upgrade yourself then I will believe that you are a good person,” he added.
When will Mohammed Shami return to action?
