New Delhi: Israel Adesanya is making his comeback in UFC after a year and will face UfC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis in UFC 305 in RAC Arena in Perth Australia on August 18, Sunday. Adesanya lost his middleweight title in UFC 293 against Sean Strickland later Du Plessis defeated Strickland and became the new Mirfleweight champion.
After his loss against Strickland Adesanya decided to take a break from UFC and went on vacation. Ahead of the mega event, Du Plessis claimed that Adesnaya is now finished and should have retired early as there is no hunger in him anymore.
He feels the energy, I can tell you that,” Du Plessis told ShakMMA.
“I made a statement that his fire is gone and I don’t believe that, I think the fire is still there, I just believe my fire is just, his fire is insignificant compared to mine. The passion, the fire that I have in me, the passion burning is overshadowing him and that’s why I can’t even see his fire” he added.
After taking a break of a year Adesanya was preparing well with his coaches but Du Plessis doesn’t believe in Adesanya’s claim and thinks that he is in his mind as Adesanya will fight his first fight after the long break.
“Well I think, if I’m in his head, maybe not, but I do know he’s in his head, that’s for sure,” Du Plessis said.
There is a long beef between these two fighters, Du Plessis also claimed he wanted to become the first ‘real African champion’. Du Plessis is all confident before defending his title against Adesanya.
