New Delhi: Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson outplayed the Bangladesh bowling attack during the third T20 International match played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday, October 12. The 29-year-old registered his maiden century in the shortest format for India.
Having been elevated to open the innings, Samson is making abuzz with the bat, firing runs in the powerplay, and putting the bowlers under the pressure. After showing respect to Mahedi Hasan in the first over, Samson charged down in the following one, hammering four consecutive boundaries off pacer Taskin Ahmed.
From that moment, Samson didn’t look back and wreaked havoc in front of the Uppal crowd. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav was left a mere spectator from the non-striker’s end just like any other viewer present at the venue as Samson tonked and tonked the Bangladesh bowlers, leaving no room for them to rectify their errors.
He smashed five successive sixes in the 10th over bowled by Rishad Hossain to move into the nineties. 30 – was the second most runs scored by an Indian batter in an over after Yuvraj Singh’s 36 against England in 2007. Samson smacked one over Mahedi’s head for a boundary to complete his three-figure mark, making him the second fastest Indian to hit a T20I century in just 40 balls.

Sanju Samson was dismissed on 111 in the 14th over by Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman. The opener belted 11 boundaries and eight sixes at a staggering strike rate of 236.17. He became the first Indian batter to score a century against Bangladesh in this format.
