New Delhi: India opener Abhishek Sharma on Monday slammed IndiGo Airlines and alleged that the behaviour of the staff at Delhi airport forced him to miss his flight. The 24-year-old explosive batter revealed that despite arriving on time at the correct check-in counter, he was needlessly directed to another, where he was told that check-in was closed.

Abhishek hit out at the airlines with a strong statement on his Instagram stories and wrote: “One-day holiday, which has now been completely ruined.”

Abhishek’s holiday turns nightmare

Abhishek, who was recently picked in India’s 15-man squad for the T20I series against England, was most likely planning to spend a brief holiday with family and friends.

Abhishek is coming on the back of a superb performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Punjab. He recently played in the match against Maharashtra in Vadodara and was knocked out of the competition.

Abhishek displayed his batting prowess in India’s premier domestic 50-over tournament and finished with 467 runs, including a century and three fifties, in eight games.

All set for England series

Abhishek will soon join the national squad at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where the first match of the series will be held on January 22. The players are set to reach Kolkata well before the series to prepare under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav and the leadership of head coach Gautam Gambhir.

After making a sensational start to his T20I career by scoring a century against Zimbabwe in Harare in July 2024, Abhishek has struggled for consistency, failing to score 20 or more in the next seven innings.

He will be aiming to bounce back to form when India face England in the five-T20I series. The 20-over series will be followed by a three-match ODI series which will act as a build-up for the ICC Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19.

Abhishek Sharma’s family holiday turned into a nightmare after a horrendous mix-up with the IndiGo Airlines staff at the Delhi Airport.  Sports Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
