New Delhi: Harmanpreet Kaur-led Team India will lock horns with Sri Lanka in their third group-stage clash at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Wednesday, October 09. After returning to winning ways with a six-wicket victory in their last game against Pakistan, India will be looking to continue their winning run to keep their semi-final hopes alive in the tournament.
India got off to a woeful start in the tournament with a crushing 58-run defeat in their opener against New Zealand before bouncing back to beat arch-rivals Pakistan in their last outing. Opener Shafali Verma led the charge for India in the run-chase with a valuable knock of 32 runs before skipper Harmanpreet wrapped up the chase with an unbeaten 29 off 24 balls. India will need another good all-round effort against reigning Asian champions Sri Lanka to make it two wins in a row. Sri Lanka women defeated India by 8 wickets in the last meeting between the two sides in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup in July this year.
