Indian fan kicked out of Adelaide Oval for showing sandpaper; video goes viral: WATCH

New Delhi: In an embarrassing moment for the Indian community, a fan was kicked out of the Adelaide Oval during the second Test between Australia and India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for inappropriate behaviour. The incident happened during the pink-ball Test which got over on Sunday, December 10 with a thumping 10-wicket win for the home side.

An Indian fan was thrown out of the stadium for brandishing sandpaper to poke fun at the Australian cricketers. The fan took a direct dig at the Aussies for the infamous sandpaper gate that rocked Australian cricket six years ago. Australian batter Cameron Bancroft was guilty of altering the conditions of the ball by using sandpaper during a Test match against South Africa in Cape Town in 2018.

Bancroft was banned for nine months for ball-tampering while former skippers Steve Smith and David Warner, who were privy to Bancroft’s shameful act were banned for one year.

The Indian fan, in an attempt to mock the Australians, waved a sandpaper from the stands. After watching the act, the security was quick to eject him from the ground much to the delight of the local fans.

India aim to bounce back from Adelaide loss

Other Indian fans didn’t have a good outing in Adelaide either as Rohit Sharma’s men slumped to a disappointing 10-wicket loss in the day-night Test. The visitors failed to capitalise on the winning momentum from their sensational 295-run victory in the first Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Home favourite Travis Head and skipper Pat Cummins were the top performers for the hosts, who wrapped the victory inside three days. Neither batting nor bowling clicked for India, who will be hoping for a quick turnaround in the third Test starting in Brisbane on December 14, Saturday.
