New Delhi: The ongoing Mahakumbh is witnessing the largest religious gathering in India and one of the largest in the world. Crores of Indians from every part of the country are going to Pryagraj to take a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam, as it is believed to wash away sins and make a person pure once again. Not just from India, even people from abroad are visiting the Mahakumbh to cherish its religious and cultural significance.
Since so many people are going to Prayagraj, with most of them by trains, Indian Railways has faced an added pressure to ensure seamless journey of passengers. The recent stampede in Delhi railway station highlighted the problems in an overcrowded station. Indian Railways recently cancelled several trips of long-distance trains. While official reason for the cancellations has not been provided, as per a report by The Free Press Journal, the decision was possibly taken to manage the heavy rush in the Prayagraj area, especially keeping in mind the ongoing Mahakumbh.
