Mumbai: Turkiye and Azerbaijan are facing the brunt for publicly expressing their support for Pakistan after India launched Operation Sindoor to strike the terror infrastructure. Indians have called for boycott of trade, tourism and other regulations with the two countries.

Majority of the Indians planning to travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan for vacation have cancelled their tours. Not only this, Visa processing platform Atlys confirmed that a 42 per cent decline in visa applications to Turkiye and Azerbaijan has been recorded after the recent developments.

Venting their anger against Turkiye and Azerbaijan for their support to Pakistan, Indian travellers responded swiftly by deciding to avoid travelling to both the nations, Atlys added. It further informed that 60 per cent of users exited the visa application process midway in aspan of just 36 hours.

Sharp Decline in Turkey & Azerbaijan Visa Applications

Metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai recorded a 53 per cent drop in Turkey-bound visa applications, while tier II cities such as Jaipur and Indore reported 20 per cent.

Notably, Atlys mentioned that the drop came after visa applications to Turkiye and Azerbaijan recorded a growth of nearly 64 per cent in January-March compared to the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, boycott calls for Turkiye and Azerbaijan has benefitted countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, and Egypt as the visa applications has risen by up to 31 per cent.

“The reaction wasn’t scattered, it was sharp and behavioural. People didn’t need to be told to avoid certain destinations. They simply moved on, guided by instinct, information, and access to alternatives.

“That’s what modern travel looks like. It’s emotionally intelligent, logistically agile, and backed by platforms that let people act fast. In the same spirit, we also paused all marketing efforts for Turkiye and Azerbaijan, standing by India and in solidarity with national sentiment,” Atlys founder and CEO Mohak Nahta added.

Last week, MakeMyTrip confirmed that majority of the Indians who had planned to visit Turkey and Azerbijan have cancelled their trips. The bookings for both the countries dropped by 60%, while cancellations surged by 250% during the same period, MMT said.

Following India’s Operation Sindoor and subsequent public support for Pakistan by Turkey and Azerbaijan, Indian tourism to these nations has plummeted.  Biz News Business News – Personal Finance News, Share Market News, BSE/NSE News, Stock Exchange News Today
