New Delhi: India’s retail inflation reached a 12-month low of 4.75 per cent in May, compared to 4.83 per cent in April, exceeding analysts’ expectations of 4.85 per cent inflation, according to official data. Food inflation stood at 8.69 per cent in May, compared to 8.70 per cent in April, according to data shared by the National Statistical Office (NSO). Core inflation remained almost flat at 3.1 per cent in May compared to 3.2 per cent in April.

Industrial output at 3-month low
India’s index of industrial production slipped to a 3-month low of 5 per cent in April from 5.4 per cent in March owing to a poor show by the manufacturing sector. The mining and power sectors performed well, according to official data.
