New Delhi: Mumbai has once again cemented its place as India’s culinary capital, capturing the highest number of spots in the recently announced Condé Nast Traveller x Zomato Top Restaurant Awards 2024. The awards, unveiled at a star-studded event on 11 November at The St. Regis Mumbai, saw 13 restaurants from the city in the top 50, surpassing Delhi’s seven. This year’s list shines a spotlight on restaurants that have mastered both comfort classics and regional Indian fare, underscoring Mumbai’s reputation for blending the familiar with the innovative. Japanese cuisine continues to be a favourite, yet it’s the eateries reimagining traditional Indian dishes that have truly wowed the judges.
The awards, now in their fifth year, are the benchmark for India’s dining scene, curated through multiple rounds of voting by a diverse jury of 100 experts, including food critics, chefs, and artists. Overseen by independent auditors, this rigorous process ensures fair representation across regions, revealing the best dining experiences in the country.
With Goa following closely behind with 10 eateries on the list, the rankings show that India’s coastal cities are thriving gastronomic hubs.
