Kolkata: In a major relief to residents of West Bengal, IndiGo plans to offer deeper connectivity to neighbouring states such as Odisha and Assam, by announcing flights to Bhubaneswar and Guwahati from Durgapur. IndiGo has also announced flights to Bagdogra from Durgapur, facilitating the progress to Darjeeling. The airline will start flights on these routes with varying frequency.

Durgapur to Bagdogra flights will be offered 4 times a week
Indigo will fly planes on the Durgapur to Guwahati route 3 times a week.
“With these direct flights, we aim to provide our customers with further seamless connectivity,” said Vinay Malhotra, head of global sales at IndiGo. The addition of these routes will take the total flights from Durgapur offered by IndiGo to 42 per week.

The Durgapur to Bagdogra route takes 11 hours.
Travel from Durgapur to Guwahati is a 21-hour affair.
This travel time will be shortened substantially by the new flight routes rolled out by IndiGo. The airline said it is the only air carrier to offer direct flights on these routes.

IndiGo’s share price took a hit after the airline’s promoters likely sold a stake comprising 5.2 lakh shares. This was the second such stake sale that took place in 2 days. The previous stake sale comprised 77 lakh shares equalling a 2 per cent stake in the airline.
