Local boy Parthiv entrusted with big job
Parthiv have been entrusted with an IPL coaching role for the first time since he retired from cricket in 2020.
Following his retirement, Parthiv served as a talent scout for five-time champions Mumbai Indians for three seasons until 2023. He also served as the batting coach for MI Emirates in the inaugural season of ILT20.
Parthiv has played in multiple IPL teams since he was first signed by Chennai Super Kings as a pure batter. He has been a part of MI’s title-winning side and has also featured for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in his last season in the IPL, in 2018.
During his 17-year international career, Parthiv played 25 Tests for India, 38 ODIs and a couple of T20Is.
Meanwhile, Titans will look to replicate their 2022 and 2023 performances in the upcoming edition. Formed in 2021, GT won the title in 2022 in their debut season and finished as runner-up in IPL 2023. But after skipper Hardik Pandya decided to switch his allegiances to Mumbai Indians, Titans under the leadership of young Shubman Gill failed to reach the play-offs in IPL 2024. Besides Gill, the Titans retained Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
Making his debut at the age of 17 in 2022, Parthiv became the youngest wicket-keeper to represent a nation in Test cricket. Parthiv was part of the 2016 Asia Cup-winning team.
