New Delhi: It was a remarkable win for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday as for the first time since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL), they managed to beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at their home after racing to a huge 50-run victory in IPL 2025 on Friday. This was Super Kings’ biggest defeat against any side at their home since the first season.
Chasing a target of 197, Super Kings could only muster 146/8 in the stipulated 20 overs, falling well short of the target. MS Dhoni, who surpassed Suresh Raina to become the leading scorer for CSK in IPL, played a couple of big shots towards the end but failed to help his side cross the finish line. Apart from Dhoni, who scored a quickfire 30 off 16 balls, Rachin Ravindra (41) was the only other player to contribute in the chase.
Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with 25 runs but could not stay there till the last to guide his team home. For RCB, who delivered an all-round performance, Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets while Yash Dayal and Liam Livingstone picked two wickets apiece. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also picked up a scalp. This was RCB’s second straight win in IPL 2025 while CSK’s first loss.

Opener Phil Salt and star batter Virat Kohli also made notable contributions to take the team to a good total. While Salt scored a quick 32 off 16 balls, Kohli contributed with 31 runs in 30 deliveries.
