New Delhi: Rohit Sharma’s problems against left-arm pacers are well-documented. Even during his most prolific periods in international cricket, Rohit always had issues while facing quality left-arm pacers. The issue has spilt into the Indian Premier League (IPL) as Rohit continues to struggle against the left-armers.
For the fourth time this season, the former Mumbai Indians skipper was dismissed by a left-arm pacer as Delhi Capitals’ Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman dismissed the iconic opener for 5 in the crunch clash at the Wankhede Stadium.
Rohit, who has shown glimpses of his brilliance in the recent few matches, was caught behind on an angled delivery in the third over, bowled by left-arm pacer Mustafizur.
It was a big blow for the Mumbai Indians, who were sent into bat by stand-in DC skipper Faf du Plessis. The South African veteran replaced Axar Patel as the captain of the side for the Mumbai clash. Patel missed the match due to illness.
Rohit’s woes against left-arm fast bowlers have spilt from the 2024 to 2025 season. Since IPL 2024, Rohit has been dismissed by a left-arm fast bowler in the powerplay for the eighth time. During this period, he has scored 150 runs in 95 balls at a dismal average of 18.75.

Earlier, DC were dealt a severe blow after skipper and star all-rounder Patel missed the game due to illness.
“He has been really sick in the last two days. We’ll miss him today. Axar is two players and it’s difficult to replace him. We’ll see how it goes,” Du Plessis said during the toss.
Meanwhile, Mumbai brought in Mitchel Santner in place of Corbin Bosch.
