New Delhi: Promising batter Nehal Wadhera slammed the highest score of his Indian Premier League career while batting for Punjab Kings against Rajasthan Royals in an IPL 2025 game on Sunday, while Shashank Singh scored the most fifty-plus scores at No. 6 or lower in the tournament since 2024.
The left handed Wadhera scored 70 runs off 37 balls, with the help of five boundaries and five sixes, his fourth half century in his IPL career. Shashank blasted 59 off 30 balls, including five fours and three sixes as to lift Punjab to 219/5.
In 16 innings, Shashank has scored three half centuries while batting at the No.6 spot or lower since last year, which is the best among batters during the time period.
Lucknow Super Giants’ Ayush Badoni has achieved it twice in 12 innings, similar to Delhi Capitals’ Ashustosh Sharma (17 innings) and the retired Dinesh Karthik (12 innings) for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
At Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Wadhera came into bat when his team was at 34/2 after winning the toss and opting to bat. He then went on to forge a 67-run partnership with skipper Shreyas Iyer (30, 25 balls, 5×4).

Wadhera came to the crease after the dismissal of Priyansh Arya and Mitchell Owen, shortly after which Prabhsimran Singh went back to the pavilion as PBKS slumped to 34/3.
When Iyer was dismissed in the 11th over with the Punjab score on 101, Wadhera remained unperturbed as he continued to hit freely Shashank Singh before getting out to Akash Madhwal in the 16th over.
Wadhera’s previous-highest score in the IPL was 64, which he scored against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2023. In 31 matches, he has amassed 630 runs at an average of 27.39 and a strike-rate of 147.19.
In IPL 2025, Wadhera has made 280 runs from 11 games at an average of 35, with two fifties, striking at a rate of 157.30.
