IPL 2025: Virat Kohli on cusp of massive record in PBKS vs RCB Qualifier 1

New Delhi: Virat Kohli has been immensely successful in the current edition of the Indian Premier League. While the star RCB batter has a proven track record in the cash-rich league, this season has become even more prosperous for him with his team being in the playoffs stage, just a few games away from their maiden IPL trophy.

RCB lock horns with Punjab Kings in the first qualifier in Chandigarh on Thursday and one of the two teams will get a direct entry into the final with a win. The losing side, on the other hand, will have some hopes alive as they will play in the second qualifier for a spot in the final of the 18th edition. Considering RCB’s current form, chances for their place in the final seems certain as they will have not one but two matches to book their place in the summit clash.

Ahead of the clash, Kohli is on the brink of achieving a big IPL record and if he’s able to do it, the RCB star will thus equal Australian giant David Warner’s record.

Kohli chasing half-century record

Kohli, who has smashed more than 600 runs in the current season and is in a stupendous form with 8 half-centuries, is on the cusp of equalling David Warner’s record for most fifties in a single edition of the IPL. In the last league match of IPL, Kohli broke Warner’s record of the most half-centuries in the league. The Australian batter was atop the list with 62 hundreds to his name and Kohli, after hitting a half-century against Lucknow Super Giants took his tally to 63 half-tons.

Meanwhile, Warner has the record of hitting 9 half-centuries in a single edition of the league and if the star batter hits a fifty in the first qualifier, he will equal Warner’s record. The RCB unit would be wishing for Kohli to prove his mark yet again in the crucial encounter.
