New Delhi: Liverpool star Mohamed Salah after leading Liverpool to a 2-0 win at Manchester City expressed his desire to win another Premier League title. The victory has given the Reds 11 points lead over second-placed Arsenal and they are clearly going to claim the title. Salah won the title back in 2019-20 with Liverpool but has said earlier as well that the winners from that team need to win it again to cement their legacy.

After Liverpool’s triumph at the Etihad Salah said, “Maybe people prefer my first seasons or now but I prefer now because winning the league, helping the young players, it is special.” He added, “We need another title. Me and the big guys in the team, we need another title.”

The Egyptian king, captain Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker and Andy Robertson were all part of the winning squad that ended the 30-year drought to win the title in 2020. Arne Slot’s men are in a commanding position to claim a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title.

Salah is left with just four months with the club as his contract expires in the summer and there has been no hint of an extension so far from the club but the 32-year-old has not shown any sign of distraction on the field.

Salah matches Lionel Messi’s 10-year record

Mohamed Salah has scored and assisted in 11 league games this season, marking the most by any player in Europe’s big five leagues since Argentine maestro Lionel Messi’s 11 for Barcelona back in 2014-15. The winger’s latest strike added to his impressive tally of 25 Premier League goals this season just seven behind his debut season tally.

Furthermore, it marked Salah’s 30th goal across all competitions for the club this season. He has registered 241 goals in all competitions since joining the Reds in 2017, making him the joint-third highest goalscorer on Liverpool’s list with Gordon Hodgson (1926-35). The club’s scoring chart is topped by Ian Rush with 346 goals ahead of second-placed Roger Hunt’s 285.

Mo Salah’s 16 away league goals marks the joint record in the competition’s history with Kevin Phillips (1999-2000) and Harry Kane (2022-2023).

Looking ahead

With just four months remaining his contract to expire his future at the club remains a topic of speculation. However, his stellar performance on the pitch and his record-setting ability every week solidify his legacy as one of the club’s greatest players.

Mohamed Salah sends a strong message to Arsenal after Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Man City, expressing his desire for another Premier League title amid a record-breaking season.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
