New Delhi: It was a nightmare for Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings on Thursday as they slumped to their worst-ever starts in the Indian Premier League during the Qualifier 1 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). After being put into bat first in the all-important match which well see one of the teams book their spot in the final, RCB bowlers decimated the PBKS batters with their superlative bowling.

Yash Dayal gave the visitors the first breakthrough with the wicket of opener Priyansh Arya for just 7 runs which was followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar rattling Prabhsimran Singh after he made a good start by scoring 18 runs in 10 balls. Soon after Prabhsimran, who was looking in a good touch, was dismissed, star player Virat Kohli’s celebration caught the attention of the all the spectators and the fans.

Kohli’s wild celebration after dismissals

Kohli, who is known for his passionate and wild celebrations after a dismissal, once again erupted in wild celebrations jumping and running towards the bowler and the entire RCB dug out. Kohli, who was placed at the first slip, repeated his celebration style in the same manner after Josh Hazlewood dismissed skipper Shreyas Iyer for just 2 runs in the over. RCB were struggling at 30 for 3 when the celebration took place after the big wicket of Iyer.

Meanwhile, the worst start was followed by a poor performances by the rest of the batters in the camp as the side folded for just 101 runs in 14.1 overs, giving a target of 102 for RCB. Marcus Stoinis was the top scorer for the unit with 26 runs off just 17 balls while Azmatullah Omarzai also scored 18 runs. Apart from theses batters, none were able to convert their single digit scores.

While a win looks certain for RCB in the game unless PBKS come up with an exceptional bowling, Punjab Kings will get another chance to book their seat in the summit clash in the second qualifier on Sunday.
