IRCTC website down: Users unable to book tickets online | Here’s why

New Delhi: Aspiring travellers’ plans were frustrated by IRCTC whose train ticket booking app was reportedly down leading to ticket booking failures, according to social media posts. Several users found themselves stuck on the ‘fetching trains’ stage during their Indian Railways train ticket booking journey, according to the website DownDetector. Tatkal bookings were especially affected by the apparent outage.

DownDetector’s real-time tracker showed that nearly 220 users faced outages while accessing the IRCTC website in the last 24 hours. While 66 per cent of the issues were related to the IRCTC website, 21 per cent of the outages were related to the IRCTC app and 13 per cent were related to ticketing. The website clarified that it only reports an issue when the problems reported are higher than the typical volume for a day.

IRCTC user Sankarananth took to social media platform X to share that Tatkal train ticket booking was not working. He was forced to book a waitlisted ticket owing to this glitch. However, premium tatakla ticket booking was working, he added.

Tatkal not working, but general working.
Unnecessarily, I have book the ticket in waiting list ticket.
But premium tatkal is working.
Nice playing by irctc.@IRCTCofficial @irctc_app @irctcsouthzone

Another social media user said that IRCTC just failed to load the booking page.

IRCTC just doesn’t load the booking …does everything else apart from that

One of the users added that the IRCTC website was not working since November 1, 2024.

IRCTC responded to this user’s message saying that the portal was working fine and there were no issues in booking. IRCTC said there may have been temporary issues in the booking process. The comoany urged the user to clear their browsing history and cache and try booking their tickets once again.

State-owned train ticket booking platform IRCTC’s app and portal were reportedly facing outages resulting in failure to book tatkal train tickets, according to several social media posts.  Biz News Business News – Personal Finance News, Share Market News, BSE/NSE News, Stock Exchange News Today
