Iron Dome in Action: Israel Intercepts Hundreds of Rockets Fired by Hezbollah | Video

Tel Aviv: As tensions escalated between Israel and Hezbollah with the former launching deadliest aerial assault on Lebanon since 2006, killing over 490 people, several rockets were fired into Israeli airspace which was eventually intercepted by the Iron dome.

Over 200 rockets were launched towards the northern Israeli city of Haifa early on Tuesday. Notably, this was the first time since 2006 that rocket sirens sounded in Haifa as Hezbollah launched dozens of rockets from Lebanon.

The rockets targeted northern Israel, including Haifa bay, Kiryat Bialik, and the Jezreel valley.

The visuals of the interception was shared by the official account of Israel Foreign Ministry on X. In the video, several rockets can be seen being destroyed by the Iron dome as they attempted to pound Israel.

Reacting to heavy barrage, Israel has blamed the Lebanese government for every Hezbollah rocket that entered its airspace. In a post on X, the Israel govt wrote,” Northern Israel Right Now This is what we are up against. We hold the Lebanese government accountable for every Hezbollah rocket launched from its soil. We will never apologize for protecting the people of Israel (sic).”

Hezbollah’s wave of strikes came as response to the bombardment of Iran-backed militant groups’ hideouts in Lebanon on Monday.

Israel on Monday launched hundreds of airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon, killing 492 people, including 35 children and 58 women, as the Israeli military called on residents to immediately evacuate places where it claimed Hezbollah stores weapons.

It is reported that Hamas commander Hussein Mahmoud al-Nader was also killed in an Israeli strike in Lebanon. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged Lebanese people to evacuate the conflict zone.

Netanyahu on Monday sent out a message for the people of Lebanon saying that Hezbollah has been using them as “human shield and urged them to get out of “harm’s way now.”

In the video statement, Netanyahu said, “I have a message for the people of Lebanon: Israel’s war is not with you, it’s with Hezbollah. For too long, Hezbollah has been using you as human shields. It placed rockets in your living rooms and missiles in your garage. Those rockets and missiles are aimed directly at our cities, directly at our citizens. To defend our people against Hezbollah strikes, we must take out those weapons.”

Over 490 Killed in Deadliest Attack on Lebanon

Israel on Monday carried out airstrikes on Lebanon, killing more than 490 people dead in the deadliest attack since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war after launching a series of strikes targeting ammunition and logistics sites in southern and eastern Israel. More than 1,645 people were wounded in the strikes, the health ministry said, a staggering one-day toll for the country. Meanwhile, the Israeli military gave an ultimatum to the residents in Beqaa to evacuate their homes and vacate the valley as it warned of more attacks against Hezbollah.

Conflict Triggers Biggest Exodus in Lebanon Since 2006

Fearing Israeli attacks targeting Hezbollah, thousands of residents fled southern Lebanon, causing major traffic jams on the highway from Sidon to Beirut in the largest exodus since the 2006 conflict. More than 700 people were injured in the strikes, a staggering one-day toll for a country still reeling from a deadly attack on communication devices last week. The deadly conflict also triggered biggest exodus since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah wars as thousands of people fled southern Lebanon, jamming the main highway to Beirut.

Dramatic visuals from southern Lebanon displayed cars stuck in traffic since morning till night. The citizens who attempted to flee the area were seen asking for water and food.
