New Delhi: Kerala Blasters sacked head coach Mikael Stahre on Monday following a 2-3 defeat to reigning Indian Super League Shield champions Mohun Bagan that left them languishing at the 10th spot in the 13-team standings.
At the Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Saturday, they conceded two goals in the last 10 minutes to beaten for the sixth time in seven games.
Apart from Stahre, assistant coaches Bjorn Wesstrom and Frederico Pereira Morais have also been removed with immediate effect, the club said.
“The club sincerely thanks Mikael, Bjorn, and Frederico for their contributions throughout their time with Kerala Blasters FC. We wish them nothing but success in their future endeavours. The new head coach will be announced in due course,” Kerala said in a statement.
“Till the new appointment is confirmed, KBFC’s Reserve Team Head Coach and Head of Youth Development, Tomasz Tchorz and assistant coach, TG Purushothaman will take over the responsibility of managing the First Team.”

Stahre joined the Kochi-based club at the start of the season but began his tenure with a home defeat to Punjab FC. But the Swede was under pressure from the very beginning as they failed to produce consistent performances.
It led to expressions of displeasure from their fans, leading to boycott of tickets. Stahre is the first managerial sadking of the ongoing 2024-25 edition of the ISL.
