Tel Aviv: On Wednesday, an Israeli drone struck a vehicle near Imam Ali Mosque in Lebanon’s Sidon.
As per reports, the Israeli military likely targeted a senior Hezbollah terrorist in the strike.
As of now, no confirmation has been yet received by the IDF. Further details are awaited on the incident.
This strike comes as Hezbollah on the same day launched over 50 rockets at Israel hitting a number of private homes in the Israel-controlled Golan Heights.
“Miraculously, there were no serious casualties,” said Oren Avitan, the area paramedic director of Magen David Adom.
“A 30-year-old man was found in moderate condition and fully conscious with shrapnel in his body. Several people were treated for anxiety on the spot,” he added.
The group said that this attack was in response to an Israeli strike deep into Lebanon on Tuesday night that killed 1 and injured 19.
A day earlier, Hezbollah launched more than 200 projectiles towards Israel, after the later targeted a Hezbollah weapons depot some 80 kilometres (50 miles) from the border, a significant increase in the daily skirmishes.
Israel and the Lebanese militant group have traded near-daily strikes for more than 10 months against the backdrop of Israel’s war against Hezbollah’s ally, Hamas, in Gaza.
The exchanges have killed more than 500 people in Lebanon – mostly militants but also including around 100 civilians and non-combatants – and 23 soldiers and 26 civilians in Israel.
