‘Itni maturity hazam nahi ho rahi’: Yuvraj Singh hails protégé Abhishek Sharma on blazing ton vs PBKS

New Delhi: Destructive Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma’s batting skills on Saturday filled former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh with pride, who saw his protégé going hammer and tongs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and slammed a stunning knock of 141 off just 55 balls, recording his maiden IPL hundred. Abhishek, with Travis Head by his side, comfortably chased down 246 runs to register their second win of the season.

With the win, SRH snapped their four-match losing streak and also made it IPL history’s second-highest successful run-chase. Yuvraj, who has been an established match-winner for Team India, has taken Abhishek under his mentorship as both hail from the state of Punjab, and his guidance has been instrumental in Abhishek’s growth and nurturing since his U-19 prodigy days.

It is well-known how destructive of a left-handed batter Yuvraj Singh was, and he seems to have inculcated the same characteristics in Abhishek, whom he watches closely whenever he bats. When Abhishek came good in Hyderabad after a long, low run of form, Yuvraj was one happy guy.

Taking to his “X” (formerly Twitter) account, Yuvraj lavished praise on the youngster as he wrote, “Wah sharma ji ke bete! 98 pe single phir 99 pe single! Itni maturity ha am nahi ho rahi! Great knock @IamAbhiSharma4.”

He went on to appreciate the other worthy contributions from the bat as well including the likes of Travis Head and PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer. “well played @TravisHead24. these openers are a treat to watch together ! well played @ShreyasIyer15 great to watch aswell.”

Yuvraj Singh was enthralled after watching Abhishek Sharma hit 141 off just 55 deliveries, pulling off a sensational run-chase for SRH in an IPL 2025 clash against PBKS in Hyderabad on Saturday.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
